why is it so hard to buy a window

money *can't always* be exchanged for goods and services

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

i need to buy a new bathroom window (for my bathroom)

i visited andersen's website because i hear they make good windows

i gave them the measurements and picked out the features i wanted,
my excitement growing with each completed step


but then, an obstacle

can you not just tell me the price?

can i not just buy a window?

apparently not.

apparently i have to agree to learn more
about andersen windows and doors' products.

i have to agree to receive recurring
advertising calls, texts, and emails.

i have to agree to their privacy policy
and their terms and conditions.

APPARENTLY they don't want me to buy a window.

so i did it, i did what they asked and got a phone call

a phone call where they asked me all the same questions
i'd already answered on their website

a phone call that was unceremoniously disconnected
before they finished re-asking me the questions

i followed up via SMS and answered their remaining questions

only to be told that they "have a great solution for my project
through a local dealer"

a local dealer that never got in touch with me

a local dealer that didn't want me to buy a window
